Details of the new Namibia Students Financial Assistance Fund (NSFAF) reactivation and award conditions

1. REQUIREMENTS
1.1 Loan reactivation
Definition: Students who repeated an academic year at their own cost, and now want NSFAF to continue with funding after they passed OR students who were inactive for less than two (2) years.

 Latest official proof of registration (not mandatory but may be required)
 Full academic transcripts/records (all module records from 1st year to date),
 Full financial statement from your institution (indicating all payment transactions from 1st year to date).
NB: Students are always urged to reactivate their loans within the first semester.

1.2 Changes of award conditions

Definition: Students changing a field/program of study or Major Subjects or Institution or Country of enrolment; or intended enrolment.

 The student`s formal written request to NSFAF (Brief background summary),
 The new admission letter,
 Latest official proof of registration (not mandatory but may be required)
 Full academic transcripts/records (all module records from 1st year to date),
 Full financial statement from your institution (indicating all payment transactions from 1st year to date).

Note:
 Students are expected to first get permission from NSFSAF before any changes.
 Changes made without written approval from NSFAF constitute a breach of contract.
 NSFAF reserves the right to approve or reject the requests for changes of fields/program of study, major subjects, institutions, or country of study.
 Approvals for new program duration are subjected to the Initial Contract.

1.3 Changes of award conditions due to illness or curriculum change

Definition: Special consideration of repeated studies or reactivation of loan, loan on hold due to illness/medical conditions and/or curriculum change.

 The student`s formal written request to NSFAF (Brief background summary),
 The new admission letter,
 Latest official proof of registration (not mandatory but may be required)
 Full academic transcripts/records (all module records from 1st year to date),
 Full financial statement from your institution (indicating all payment transactions from 1st year to date).
 In case of Illness: Doctor’s sick certificate, (indicating visit trends)
 Doctor’s fitness letter/confirmation (mandatory)
 Study deferral letter from the IHE (not mandatory but may be required)
 In case of curriculum change: Letter from the IHE indicating the changes of the curriculum. (mandatory)

Note:
NSFAF reserves the right to approve or reject the requests; approvals are subjected to the NSFAF Funding & Debt Recovery Policy, as well as the current special consideration guidelines.

2. GENERAL INFORMATION

 Documents should be official/stamped university documents, all requests should be sent to info@nsfaf.na

 Students are urged to visit NSFAF website: www.nsfaf.na go to ABOUT NSFAF, go to Downloads, and obtain the Change of award condition/Special consideration form.

N.B Students are urged to find out from their respective institutions, whether their invoices were sent to NSFAF or not.

    1. You need to provide the documents below;

       The student`s formal written request to NSFAF (Brief background summary),

  5. I had to forego my studies last year due to a lack of funds…. Now I am owing UNAM CLOSE TO 12000 which I can;t afford to oay as my father is unemoployed and my mothe is deceased… I registered for the first semester last year only, but I FAILED due to a lack of internet connection…I HAVE A nsfaf ID BUT i HAVEN’T nenefitted before, I have been trying to reactivate my account but nothing, no response to my emails from the nsfaf administration… Should I travel to NSFAF offices in Windhoek or?

  6. I did my Diploma in Education in Junior primary and i want to continue my honors degree as per new NSFAF info , Diploma students can apply for funding… i have 23 points in 5 subjects and a Diploma.

  7. I would like to apply for a NSFAF loan but my parents are late and I could not find my dad’s death certificate. Even wfw I visited the home affairs they said they can’t find his death details in the system. What can I do in this condition before the 31 of March 2025?

  8. Hi? I reactivated last year and i didnt get money from nsfaf. Both my non tuition and tuition fees are not paid until today and its like all the nsfaf reactivants last didnt get refund. Where is the problem maybe? And must i still expect my non tuition fees or how?

      1. GOOD MORNING I REPEATED A YEAR LAST YEAR BECAUSE I FAILED THE YEAR BEFORE LAST YEAR AND THIS YEAR I MOVED ON TO THE NEXT YEAR, AM I CONSIDERED AS A REACTIVATED STUDENT AND WHAT DOCUMENTS TO UPLOAD TO BE REACTIVATED?

  9. i want to register for a masters degree in English studies with unam, i was only funded for Basic Education Teacher Diploma. way back days… can i still apply for nasfaf?

    1. NSFAF awards students funding with regard to a specific program. e.g a3-year Diploma in Business Administration or 4-year Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management. You will need to reapply to be considered for a new funds/loan

  10. I went to the Nsfaf office in Windhoek and they said I can only reactivate my account next year and that they only need my invoice from Nust. Last week I contacted another Nsfaf staff member and told them about my situation and said that I was given wrong advice, she added that I do qualify for reactivation, so are the loan reactivations still ongoing?
